Directly from Alexandre Family Farm in their own words:

INGREDIENTS: Organic 100% Grass-fed Milk

Our Whole Milk contains 6% milkfat – which is 70% more than the standardized 3.5% milkfat in other Whole milk on the market. We also don’t break down (or homogenize) that nutritious fat – so our milk is old-fashioned ‘cream-on-top’. Give it a good shake (or not!). We use a “low and slow” heating method when preparing our milk to harness all of the delicious flavor in pasture-raised cow’s milk. Our cool, coastal climate provides green grass 365 days a year – a constant source of nourishment for our unique blend of crossbreed cows, and results in milk with higher Omega 3s and CLA’s (conjugated linoleic acids). We choose to leave the milk fat levels exactly as they are on the day of milking – giving you the seasonal benefit of full fat. The bonus to all this nutritious goodness is that 100% grass-fed milk tastes extra creamy and rich and delicious!

FAQ

Is this 100% grass-fed milk?

Yes!

Is this supposed to taste (hearty/earthy/etc)?

Yes, grass-fed dairy tends to have a lightly hearty or grassy flavor.

Do the cows eat corn or soy?

No – this comes from cows that only eat grass and other pasture plants, hay, and aged grass silage.

Does the 100% grass-fed milk make a difference?

Yes. The certified regenerative grass pastures that our cows graze on are more nutrient dense – translating in milk and kefir that has comparatively more nutrients, especially omega-3 fatty acids, which play several important roles in the body. They are an essential building block of the brain, eyes, and cell membranes (a cell’s outer wall), and have been shown to help prevent a number of chronic diseases, including heart disease and stroke.

Is it pasteurized or homogenized?

Yes, it is vat pasteurized (low and slow).

No, it is not homogenized. There is cream on top. Shake it in well (or not)!

What is A2/A2 Organic Milk?

Milk, sourced from healthy cows on healthy soil, is a nutrient-dense superfood. It is an excellent source of calcium, magnesium, phosphate, B vitamins, Vitamin D, iodine, potassium, healthy fats, amino acids, energy (from lactose) and protein. There are two types of protein found in milk – whey (20%) and casein (80%) – both of which are extremely efficient at helping our bodies absorb amino acids, build and repair muscle and more.

Today, the beta-casein found in cow’s milk is present in one of two variants: A2 beta-casein and A1 beta-casein. Originally, cow’s milk only had the A2 beta-casein protein present (A2/A2) – which is the same primary protein found in human milk. Because of this, A2 beta-casein is most natural to the human body and more easily absorbed.

However, the protein in cow’s milk has changed throughout time. At some point, there was a genetic mutation in the A2 beta-casein protein that created the A1 beta-casein variant, which has resulted in most commercially available cow’s milk today to become a mixture of A1 and A2 beta-casein (A2/A1). Unfortunately, the A1 beta-casein can be difficult for humans to digest and is linked to inflammation, gut discomfort and many other health issues.

It was this knowledge that prompted Blake and Stephanie Alexandre to seek out a way to breed the A1 beta-casein variant out of their herd of cows. The result? Today the Alexandres have 100% A2/A2 cows producing organic milk that is free of the A1 beta-casein mutation.

We are proud to say that hundreds of people are now able to enjoy dairy again thanks to our A2/A2 organic milk – joining thousands of our customers who enjoy our milk for everything from its irresistible taste to our farming practices that help regenerate the Earth.

Alexandre Family Farm Key Differentiators

Regenerative farming practices

Alexandre Family Farm is the first dairy farm in the United States to be certified Regenerative Organic. This means that we use farming practices that have been proven by third-party certifiers to: improve soil health, water quality, and biodiversity.

Regenerative farming is a holistic approach to farming that goes beyond organic practices to improve the health of the soil, water, air, and biodiversity. This can lead to a number of benefits for human health, the environment, and the economy.

Grass-fed Cows

Alexandre Family Farm dairy comes from grass-fed cows, which means they eat a diet of grass and hay. This is in contrast to many other dairy farms that feed a diet that primarily consists of grain.

Grass-fed cows are healthier than grain-fed cows. They have lower levels of fat and cholesterol, and they are more resistant to disease. Grass-fed milk is also higher in omega-3 fatty acids and conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), which have a number of health benefits.

Certified Organic – No pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers

Alexandre Family Farm milk is certified organic, which means it is produced without the use of synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers. Such chemicals can have harmful effects on human health, the environment, and the cows.

Organic milk is also higher in nutrients than non-organic milk.

100% A2/A2 Dairy

Alexandre Family Farm cows only produce A2 beta-casein protein. From some people, this protein is easier to digest than the A1 beta-casein protein that is common in most milk produced in America.

Certified Humane

Alexandre Family Farm is certified humane and uses compassionate animal health practices. We love our animals and treat them with the utmost care and respect.

“Certified humane” means we meet the strict standards for animal welfare set by Certified Humane, a certification that guarantees that animals are raised in humane conditions. The standards for Certified Humane dairy production are very strict, and they ensure that cows have access to fresh water, shelter, and plenty of space to graze.

The Certified Humane Raised & Handled seal ensures that farmers comply with specific high standards for their animals in areas of food, environment, management, healthcare, handling, and transportation. The standards are upheld through annual inspections conducted by scientists and veterinarians who are experts on the species they are inspecting. These are third-party independent inspections of all farms, ranches, and slaughter and processing facilities.

Family Owned and Operated

Alexandre Family Farm is a family-owned and operated farm that is invested in our community and committed to sustainability. We are a family of 4th and 5th generation dairy farmers, with the 6th generation being raised on the family farm at the moment!

High Milkfat

The goodness of nutritional value get passed from farm to bottle, allowing for more Omega-3s and CLAs per serving in our high milkfat products:

West Coast Product Line

– 40% Heavy Whipping Cream

– 16% Half & Half

No Additives

There are no emulsifiers, no stabilizers, no carrageenan, no other additives in our milks.
