- Modak or Kozhukattai are steamed rice-flour dumplings, with Modak being the term used in Maharashtra and other parts of India, and Kozhukattai being its Tamil name and a general term for these dumplings in South India.
- Both are made out of rice flour, stuffed with coconut and jaggery, and steamed. But, Kozhukatta are sometimes stuffed with a savory filling.
- Directions for Use
- Take 1 cup of kozhukatai flour.
- Add a pinch of salt and one and a half cups of boiled water to rice flour, mix well and make dough into small balls.
- Now flatten the dough fill with poornam or wished fillings.
- Steam the filled items for 10-15 min.
